She started out as a budding designer and has grown into an influential business woman whos brand is in high demand. Today she is a Kiwi woman making her mark in the fashion industry nationally and internationally.
After graduating from Massey University and winning an AMP scholarship, Kathryn set her focus on her design skills and set to designing her own line of footwear. Under the guidance of successful New Zealand design house Caroline Sills, the label ‘Kathryn Wilson’ was born.
Over 100 boutiques are currently stocking the brand, and with the ever-growing online market, the label of ‘Kathryn Wilson’ is on the front foot in the fashion industry. Kathryn hosted the first exclusive footwear runway show at New Zealand Fashion Week in 2010 making her debut and making her someone to watch from the get go.
Her small business success and ‘go to’ attitude has meant that she is in high demand as a leader and a brand ambassador. Large global brands such as Volvo, Veuve Clicquot, Vodafone and AMP have noticed Kathryn and support her work with affilition's, collaborations and in various other ways.
Kathryn is a huge supporter and ambassador for Ronald McDonald House Charity, and often does events and projects to fundraise money for them. In the past she has also designed a limited edition sneaker under the ‘Miss Wilson’ brand with ‘Commando M’ brand as a collaboration and donated all sales to Ronald McDonald House Charity.
She also spends a great deal of her time speaking to schools and universities as well as charities about her journey. Being passionate about inspiring leadership with the youth of New Zealand allows her to share her stories and advice just as she will be with us. So join us to hear more about her story and experiences as a young woman making it in the industry.
